And I recently became acquainted with that support function when I received and reviewed the Hohem iSteady v3 here on Amazon. It shares many new tech features with the M6, but physically is a smaller and more noteably compact version of the iSteady M6 I just received. Luckily, and with the previous Hohem gimbal, I was introduced to Hohem’s Bluetooth app and the excellent customer-user support they offer. With the M6, I’m finding the same detailed and quick-start support without having to leave the vendor page. And that to me is a major reason for my confidence in recommending this Hohem product.My quick take on the iSteady M6… Similar to the iSteady v3 that I recently reviewed and used, the M6 appears to be the larger version gimbal. Specifically, and one of the first things I noticed, was the screw-in mini-tripod and extended handle. It’s similar in design and heft to my more sturdy (stand alone) mini-tripods. And the gimbal itself is quantitatively greater in capacity as it’s designed to support and operate/articulate with up to 400-grams total of cellphone plus accessories. Most smartphones today weigh in at 160-grams to 200-grams. So, as an estimate, you’ll be able to accommodate a large cellphone plus at minimum another 200-grams of accessory optics and/or, for instance, wireless or wired audio gear. This 400-gram capacity feature puts the iSteady M6 gimbal 100-grams more capable than its neighboring Hohem iSteady v3 gimbal, a very compact gimbal with many of the Hohem features, including hand gesture capabilities accessed through the unique Hohem ‘Bluetooth’ connectivity app. And the Hohem Bluetooth app was another feature with which I felt more comfortable. I don’t have to load a system app on my phone to benefit from all the features of the Hohem gimbals.Because of the heftier build of the M6, I’m able to treat the battery capacity of the M6 gimbal as a viable ‘power bank’. Knowing my phone more rapidly depletes its battery when recording, I find I can connect via my phones USB-C port to the gimbal. Bottom line, I can charge while recording. Because the M6 advertises 18-hours of use, I know that I’ll have enough power to both gimbal and record. I would add that you’ll want to read the manual on how to start the ‘power bank’ function.With the multiple gimbals I have, the Hohem iSteady M6 is certainly the most current (new-tech) cellphone gimbal of the group. And I’d add that currently on Amazon it comes with what I believe is a very attractive price point. And I would recommend considering the Amazon available extended warranties. While I’ve found most gimbals very reliable, with equipment I use regularly like my gimbals, I find it’s worth the peace of mind knowing I have additional years of worry free use within warranty.
